Mountains for the Mind – Walks calendar 2020
** OUR MONTHLY WALKS ARE CURRENTLY POSTPONED DUE TO THE COVID-19 OUTBREAK. WE’LL UPDATE YOU AS SOON AS THE SITUATION CHANGES **
Mountains for the Mind is teaming up with Black Dog Outdoors in 2020 to deliver free monthly guided mountain walks for people experiencing mental health problems.
One in six people in the UK report mental health problems to their GP every week, but walking is scientifically proven to be a natural anti-depressant and regular exercise can reduce the risk of depression by 30%.
Trail magazine launched Mountains for the Mind in January 2019 to encourage more people to get outside for the benefit of their mental health, and Black Dog Outdoors are the perfect partners to help us take the campaign to the next level in 2020.
All 12 Mountains for the Mind walks in 2020 will be led by qualified Mountain Leaders and supported by Mental Health First Aiders, and will be held in the UK’s most popular hillwalking regions.
All supporters of the campaign are welcome to attend but walks will be capped at 40 people so make sure you register your interest early. Booking for each event will start a month before the walk, when you can sign up online at the Black Dog Outdoors Eventbrite page.
Have a look through the list of walks, pick the ones that work for you, and hopefully we’ll see you on the hill some time soon!
