Ask the Expert - With Berghaus

“What is the best combination of layers for spring so I don't get too sweaty when working hard up the hills, but stay warm and dry whatever the weather does?"

We asked our friends at Berghaus for their best advice…

“We always recommend using layers that have been designed to work together to keep you warm, dry and comfortable throughout your time on the hills.

Start with a baselayer

The Voyager Tech Tee SS Crew is made using ARGENTIUM fabric technology, which is great next to the skin. Not only will it wick moisture when working hard, but it also has excellent anti-odour properties, ideal for long days out.

The Midlayer

When the temperature isn’t soaring, a performance midlayer is a very useful piece of kit and the new lightweight Motionik fleece jacket offers and excellent balance of insulation and breathability. It will keep the chill out while allowing you to work hard up those hills in comfort.

A waterproof is essential

To complete the system, it’s essential to take a waterproof, and the Deluge Vented jacket is a great option for spring. Working with the other two layers, it will complete the process of moving moisture away from the skin, while keeping out the elements thanks to Berghaus’ own waterproof and breathable Hydroshell fabric. When you’re really putting in the effort, use the underarm pit zips for extra ventilation and when the rain goes away (it does happen!), you can pack this lightweight jacket away into a corner of your pack and forget about it as you enjoy your time outdoors.”
