Sir Chris Bonington: "The hills will always be there"
Legendary British mountaineer Sir Chis Bonington has shared an inspirational video message encouraging people to stay positive and remember that the hills will always be out there.
With the nation still in government lockdown in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, Sir Chris shares his thoughts on how to stay positive during isolation by drawing on his vast experience of spending time alone on his past expeditions.
He also reminds people to keep dreaming of high places by sharing his favourite ever view from the summit of Suilven in northern Scotland, and reminds people to keep walking locally while the restrictions stay in place.
Sir Chris is a decorated mountaineer, writer, photographer and lecturer who first started climbing in 1951. His greatest achievements, among many others, include the first British ascent of the Eiger’s north face and leading the expedition that made the first ascent of The South Face of Annapurna.
